The day my bladder made me a prisoner at my daughter's wedding.
Pee started dribbling down my leg while delivering my daughters wedding toast...
I looked down in horror to see a wet spot spreading on my beautiful dress.
There was nothing I could do.
Fighting back the tears of embarrassment I fumbled through my speech.
Why did it have to happen in front of all these people? And on such a special day!
My worst fear came true.
I rushed away after, my mind racing. I felt gross, humiliated, and powerless.
What if this happens again?
What if there's no bathroom nearby?
I’d had little leaks in the past when sneezing or laughing really hard, but I always brushed them off knowing leaks happen to a ton of mothers.
This was different though. I literally could not control my urge to pee. And it’s not like I even had to pee, it just came out of me freely!
The fear of another public accident shattered my confidence and left me feeling hopeless.
So I spent hours at the computer that day, researching everything I could and here’s what I found.
What I just experienced was incontinence, which (1) is common for us women over 60, and (2) there’s four types of it.
